Buhl Fire Department Profile:
The Buhl Fire Department is managed through a Joint Management Agreement between the City of Buhl and the Buhl Rural Fire Protection District. Currently the department consists of a Full Time Fire Chief, a Lieutenant, and five shift Firefighter/EMT's along with 36 Paid on Call employees. The department provides a full range of services including fire suppression, extrication, emergency medical services, fire code enforcement, hazardous material response and Public Station Tours/Fire Prevention Education. The Buhl Fire Department responds out of two stations. City of Buhl Station 1 located at 205 N Broadway and Buhl Rural Fire Protection Districts Station 2 at 19266 US HWY. 30. We operate with 2 Quick Response Ambulances, 3 Structural Firefighting Engines, 2 3000 Gal. Water Tenders, 1 Extrication/Rescue Unit, 3 Type 6 Brush Units, 1 Type 3 Brush Unit, and a Command Vehicle. The Buhl Fire Department averages 1200 call for service per year. These calls include service, fire, extrication, HazMat, and EMS/Rescue calls. This averages out to be 3.2 calls for emergency services response per day. The population served is roughly 10,000 citizens and the response area for the department including The City of Buhl is 101 square miles. Much of this response area includes the Snake River, Highway 46, and the busy scenic by-way US State Highway 30 corridor.
