Building Department

Jazmine Mills, Administrator

The Building Department aims to protect all new and existing structures and premises' public health, safety, and welfare by enforcing minimum code requirements.
Key Duties:
  • Assist property owners, contractors, and developers with all relevant regulations
  • Conduct inspections of new commercial and residential construction, additions, alterations, accessory buildings, etc.
  • Review architectural and structural plans for commercial and residential projects
  • Regulate the occupancy of existing structures and premises, and help evaluate requirements based on use and occupancy type
  • Process permit applications for all types of construction
  • Issue building permits, certificates of occupancy, and certificates of completion
  • Investigate and seek resolution of building violations

Planning & Zoning

The Planning & Zoning Department strives to aid responsible and sustainable growth within our community. Developments within city limits can align with our community's vision and goals by implementing the City’s Comprehensive Plan and Title 9 of the Buhl City Code.

Key Duties:
  • Enforce designated land use regulations for all properties inside city limits
  • Provide recommendations to the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council on land use issues
  • Maintain zoning ordinances and land use regulations created by the Commission
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, and the public to ensure that new development projects comply with local regulations and contribute positively to the community as a whole.
  • Reviews and processes land use applications
  • Hold public hearings
  • Investigate and seek resolution of zoning complaints
