Assistant Pool Manager

​Position Summary:
The Assistant Pool Manager supports and assists in the daily operations of the Buhl City Pool, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and a positive experience for all patrons. This position works closely with the Pool Manager and serves as their backup when needed. Duties include supervising staff, assisting with scheduling and training, enforcing pool policies, and performing limited maintenance. This is a working supervisory role that includes weekend and holiday shifts.
 
Note: The Assistant Pool Manager must be a certified lifeguard and will be expected to perform lifeguarding duties as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Schedule staff and ensure Manager/Assistant Manager coverage
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate lifeguards and pool staff
  • Test water and maintain proper chemical levels
  • Assist with hiring, staff rotations, and payroll reporting
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings and enforce pool rules
  • Manage facility maintenance, cleaning, and supply inventory
  • Handle first aid incidents and maintain discipline at the pool
  • Track pool attendance and balance concession cash drawer
  • Report accidents, disciplinary issues, and equipment repairs to Parks & Recreation Manager
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Requirements:
  • Must be 18+ years old
  • American Red Cross CPR/1st Aid certification required  (training will be coordinated by the City of Buhl)
  • Lifeguard/WSI certification (training will be coordinated by the City of Buhl)
  • Strong supervisory, communication, and organizational skills
  • Problem-solving ability and self-motivation
  • Available for 40-hour work week including weekends and holidays​​

Pool Employment Application

Lifeguard

Position Summary:
The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons at the Buhl City Pool by maintaining vigilant supervision, enforcing pool rules, and responding quickly and effectively to emergencies. This is a working, team-oriented position that involves facility maintenance, customer service, and assisting with swim lessons and daily pool operations. Lifeguards are expected to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Monitor swimmers and pool areas to prevent accidents and respond promptly to all emergencies.
  • Enforce all pool rules and safety regulations in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Perform water rescues, first aid, and CPR as required.
  • Open and close the pool facility, including setup, cleaning, and securing all equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain pool decks, bathrooms, and concession areas for cleanliness and safety throughout the day.
  • Assist with daily chemical testing and ensure pool equipment is in good working order.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including assisting patrons at the front desk, answering questions, and selling concessions or pool passes.
  • Teach or assist with swim lessons and lifeguard during lap swim, adult swim, and swim classes as scheduled.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff to maintain a positive, team-oriented environment.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by the Pool Manager or Assistant Pool Manager.
 
Requirements:
  • Must hold current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and CPR/First Aid Certification (training will be coordinated by the City of Buhl).
  • Must be at least 15 years of age.
  • Ability to remain alert, focused, and professional in a variety of weather and pool conditions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to perform physical duties including swimming, lifting, and cleaning tasks.

Patrol Officer

The Buhl Police Department is accepting applications for the position of   Patrol Officer. This is a full-time, sworn law enforcement position responsible for enforcing state, and local laws, maintaining public safety, protecting life and property, and serving the citizens of Buhl.

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for a position, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
  • U.S. citizen
  • At least 21 years of age (for sworn officer positions)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
