Water Operator
The City of Buhl is seeking a Water Operator to perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of the City’s water distribution system.
Position Overview
This journey-level position performs a wide range of duties including water line installation and repair, meter maintenance, hydrant testing and flushing, leak detection, and operation of related equipment and systems. Work also includes monitoring SCADA systems, well sites, and water treatment processes to ensure safe and reliable water service to the community.
The position includes participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.

Work is performed both in the field and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Requires physical labor, lifting up to 80 lbs occasionally, and exposure to construction environments, traffic, and mechanical systems.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3–6 months vocational/technical training or equivalent experience
- Valid Idaho Driver’s License required
- Ability to obtain Class A or B CDL (may be required)
- Must obtain Class I Water Operator Certification within 1 year of hire
- Must obtain Class I Water Treatment Certification within 1 year of hire
- Ability to complete required continuing education annually
- Additional certifications (Backflow Tester, Flagger) may be required
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting wage: $20.00/hour

- PTO accrual: 4.62 hours per pay period
- Non-exempt, full-time position
